Hi! I'm Bárbara Pinete. I studied Fashion Design in Mexico, though most of what I make starts before I even think about the garment.

I've tried a lot of different things — different mediums, different roles, different ways into a project. But underneath all of it, it's always the same thing.

I design from feeling first. A song, a color, the way light hits a room a certain way — that's usually where something starts for me, long before I know what it will look like.

I work instinctively more than I plan. When something moves me, I follow it until it becomes real, and most of the time that's when the work is at its best. I'd rather build a piece around a feeling I can't fully explain than force one to fit a brief.

I care about people feeling something when they see my work, not just seeing it. A song isn't just a song, a dress isn't just a dress — it's how it makes you feel, and that's what pulled me into this creative world in the first place.

I'm emotional about my work, and I don't think that's something to hide. For me, designing is about turning a feeling into something you can actually hold, wear, or look at.
